What we do:
When you have concerns regarding your child’s progress, we understand that you want as much information as possible in a short amount of time. Academic Insights can help ensure that clients are performing to the best of their potential by providing data on both strengths and areas for growth. We are uniquely qualified to advise stakeholders on how best to utilize evaluation information to tailor best practices for student success. While districts are governed by timelines that allow several months for testing and reporting and other practices have waitlists months long, our commitment is to keep our queue reasonable and our turn around times short. We only take as many clients as we can serve in a timely manner. We know that when you are concerned about your child, the last thing you want is unnecessary delays in attaining the help you need.

IQ testing only:
Parents may request this assessment for admittance to certain programs and schools. Parents may also be interested in this information in order to specifically target their child’s cognitive learning style. Examples of batteries used include WISC-V, KABC-II NU, or WPPSI-IV.
School Readiness Assessment:

Parent groups:
Raising children with learning differences can be isolating. We offer groups where you can connect with parents who are working through the same challenges and celebrating the same victories that you are. Each month, groups hold a zoom meeting (usually at lunchtime) consisting of 30 minutes of education on various related topics and 30 minutes of client participation. Subscribing group members also have access to the private group Facebook page and exclusive content including an abbreviated version of the education portion of that month’s meeting if you missed it.
Achievement testing only:
Standardized achievement testing can help to establish baselines for learning. Batteries can be tailored to your specific concerns for your child. Examples of batteries used might include TOD, KTEA-III, and/or WIAT-4. In addition, data provided regarding progress in school is considered.
ARD Meeting preparation advisement:
Your child’s school should send documentation of their proposed actions prior to any meeting. These proposals can be reviewed ahead of time so that parents are adequately prepared to advocate for their child when they attend the meeting. Kasey will help you review your child’s PLAAFP, proposed goals, proposed placement, and accommodations prior to sitting at the table. This will help you better understand the actions being proposed for your child and come equipped with any changes that would be appropriate to propose for your child Kasey can also ensure that IEPs are aligned with your child’s FIE data.
Psychological Assessment:
Parents may seek psychological assessment to answer questions about attention, impulsivity, socialization, mood regulation, and/or behavioral challenges. A variety of measures including the BASC-3 and the BRIEF may be used along with other rating scales, interviews and observations.
ARD/504 Meeting advisement:
Kasey can attend your child’s 504 or ARD meeting with you in order to ensure parents understand the data used and proposed actions, that the school is honoring the best interest of the child and the law, and that parents and the school can come to a reasonable agreement. Our goal will always be consensus. The outcome for the child is almost always better when the adults can come to agreement. In the cases that agreement cannot be reached, Kasey can walk parents through non- consensus and all legal options.
