Parenting a child with a learning or behavioral difference can be isolating, overwhelming, and frustrating. We’re here to help.
After finding out that their child has a disability, parents often ask, “what now?” While we offer great ideas for support for the child, we’ve historically lacked a source for ongoing support for parents. We invite parents to join a community created to support, educate, and empower you to be the best you can for your child.
Members will be invited to monthly meetings via zoom. The first part of each meeting will be devoted to a presentation on a relevant topic such as navigating services, how to support your child’s reading at home, or how to stay calm while your child is in crisis. Topics are tailored to the needs of each group and member feedback. Relevant guest speakers will be included from time to time. The second half of the meeting will be for participation. The activity will be related to the topic and might include discussion, journaling, or practicing a skill. There will always be time at the end of each session for Q&A.
While meetings will never be recorded to encourage members to participate freely, a recap of the educational portion will be available along with member’s only additional content in our member portal.
Members on auto-draft or yearly subscriptions will also be invited to our private group Facebook pages where they can collaborate, confide, and support each other throughout each month with guidance from Academic Insights staff.
